Anthony “Tony” Cornicello is a founding and managing partner of Cornicello, Tendler & Baumel-Cornicello, LLP. With more than 35 years’ experience in real estate law, Tony is involved in all aspects of the firm’s practice, with a concentration in advising purchasers of multifamily apartment buildings, cooperative and condominium boards and property owners.
Clients trust Tony for his counsel on all real estate related matters including acquisitions, financing, mortgages, rent regulation, commercial leasing and construction issues.
Earlier in his career, Tony actively litigated cases involving residential and commercial landlord/tenant disputes, foreclosures, property and construction disputes, and cooperative and condominium matters. He has tried many cases and successfully argued appeals before the New York State Court of Appeals, Appellate Division, Appellate Term, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.
When working on contracts and leases, Tony draws from his vast litigation experience and considers the issues facing his clients carefully, zeroing in on the provisions in a contract with a potential for future litigation. Tony’s experience as a New York City building owner has given him a broad perspective on commercial and residential real estate matters; he is a calming force who relates to his clients’ concerns. “I am there for my clients, especially when they face difficult situations. My approach is ‘let me worry about this.’”
Tony is actively involved in his community, previously serving as a trustee of the Berkley Carroll School, where he chaired the Buildings & Grounds Committee and managing youth soccer teams for the Metropolitan Oval Foundation.
